Peggy made this quilt for a grandson graduating from High School.
She did a great job on the piecing. We agreed that since this quilt will be used on a bed for college, it needed to have simple, textured quilting.
'Topo' meander fit the bill.
The top thread is Maxilock in Graphite and bobbin is Magna Glide Classics in Lead Grey. I used Winline Black 60/40 batting. The backing is a grey/yellow batik and the lead grey thread just blended in beautifully!
Thanks Peggy for the pleasure of quilting for you on this fun quilt.
And...since this was a football quilt...I had to take pictures of it at the football field!!
I LOVE your toto meander and it is perfect on this one!! Great job!!
ReplyDeleteThanks dory! Miss you my friend.
DeleteMy husband is a Steelers fan, I will love to make something like this for him, Where can I find the pattern. You did a wonderful job. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you. My customer found the block pattern in a magazine, and separated each block with sashing strips. I will see if I can get the name of the pattern for you.
DeleteI would LOVE to have the name of this pattern too!!
DeleteI would LOVE to have this pattern too! It is a great looking quilt.
DeleteI like this I made a steelers quilt for my Granddaughters boyfriend, she helped me design it. I also made a Saint Louis Cardinals one for my oldest Grandson. And I also am in the process of making a Miami heat and a Chicago bears quilts for the Grandsons. I used the logos of the teams. Finding the team fabric is hard where we live.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Your quilts sound wonderful. The lqs here sells licensed fabric. You can find them on facebook, I believe, Creations Needle Arts in Ely Nevada.
DeleteI have been told that if u buy the licensed fabric at a store that when u make a quilt that u can not put it out their for sale. This makes NO sense to me .Could u tell me the truth? I dont want to get into trouble LOL . I thought if they have it for sale and it is licensed at the store then u can do what ever u want to use it for your self or make something and sell it <3
DeleteI have no idea actually. I know several people who make purses and such from licensed fabric to sell at craft fairs, and you see them on etsy. I suppose you would need to ask permission first from the entity who is represented on the fabric??? Sorry I do not have a clear answer for you.
DeleteI only quilted this quilt for a customer, and she is gifting it to a grandson.
I love that you did it in Steelers! Where did you get the black n white diamond fabric? What an awesome quilt! You've inspired me to make one for my hubs.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I do not know where my customer got the diamond fabric, but will try to find out for you. I like it too!
Deletespeaking to the person with a question about licensed fabric, there's an article on the Urban Elementz site in the "blarticle by Jane" under the subtitle "what's a quilter to do" that addresses this issue. It was the first time I'd heard of it but it makes me a little leary of using designer fabric lines. What she says is that some designers don't want their fabric used on quilts that will later be sold or made into patterns that are published without giving the designer credit. I don't think that applies to Disney fabrics or anything like that. Who knows?
